Moving in Collaboration with CCB
Recovery Conference September 19&20, 2011 Mystic, CT

Last month (June 2011) members of our Executive Board met with Marshall Rosier, Executive Director of the Connecticut Certification Board Inc (CCB), to explore ways we can work together going forward to serve addiction professionals statewide. CCB is fully in support of CAAP's mission as CAAP is of CCB's mission. We agreed to commence our collaboration by partnering with the upcoming CCB hosted Connecticut Recovery Conference. This event will be held on September 19th and 20th, 2011 at the Mystic Marriott Hotel and Spa in Mystic Connecticut. We encourage you to sign up early to attend the conference and to visit our table to learn more about CAAP and to share your ideas with us on how we can be of better service. Your opinions and suggestions on issues that need to be addressed regarding our profession are highly valued so we invite you to come discuss these with us. Message from the Immediate Past President
Bobbi Fox

In my four year tenure as your president I’ve tried to put together a working board of directors and bring the CAAP name to recognition again. CAAP was near collapse and almost folded when I, and a group of dedicated and concerned addiction professionals in CT, decided to form a working board of directors. Many of us were unfamiliar with the requirements and responsibilities of board membership but we got a lot of help from our national organization, NAADAC, and continue to learn and train to be better leaders for CT.

Over the last four years we put a lot of our energy into offering quality and advanced trainings for you. We also saw these trainings as an opportunity to reach out to the addiction professional and get name recognition back for CAAP. From the feedback we receive at our trainings, I believe we’ve accomplished this goal.

Although we’ve managed to organize a working board, offer quality trainings and have name recognition, I now see the need to work on getting to know our members better. We need to hear the voices of those of you out there in the field and what you need and want. As a new slate of officers take hold in the fall I’ll still be there suggesting that membership take the forefront of our future goals.

In closing I’d like to thank you for letting me serve CAAP as its president. I’ve learned a lot about being a leader and have had many opportunities to learn and perform as a professional representing addiction professionals in CT. Again, thanks for this wonderful growth opportunity.

Bobbi
